Program Coordinator

Job Title: (1st Position) Coordinator, Employment Essentials

Location: West or East Training Centre and/or/remote from home

Hours: 35 hours a week with some flexibility in times, Monday–Friday

Start date: As soon as possible

Contract: Full time until March 31, 2022 – with possibility of renewal based on funding

Salary Range: $57,000 to $63,000 per annum

Reports to: Program Director

Program Description:
A 12-week program for OW clients with literacy as a barrier to employment who need assistance in developing an Individual Plan of Action. Program includes weekly workshops on a variety of topics, pre- and post-academic testing and assessments, employment focused inventories, as well as one-on-one counselling, guidance, and post-program support. All components will inform and guide the development of a Final Individual Plan of Action for each participant.

Job Description:
The Program Coordinator/Counsellor holds responsibility for the day to day running of the Employment Essentials program. This includes overseeing all aspects of program implementation and delivery. It is the Program Coordinator’s responsibility to ensure the highest standards in programming and delivery are maintained.

Duties and Responsibilities of this position include:
• Carrying out participant selection in person, via phone and/or video conferencing
• Providing on-going, one-on-one counselling support to participants
• Ensuring participant retention during the program and following completion
• Assessing, tracking, and reporting participant progress in the development of action plans
• Developing Final Individual Action Plans for each participant (mandatory for Employment Essentials; optional for Let’s Connect)
• Providing up to 6 months of post-program support to all participants
• Overseeing all aspects of program development and delivery
• Bi-weekly case conferencing with facilitator and Program Director
• Working with workshop facilitator(s) and social worker(s) to ensure excellence in programming and delivery
• Preparing reports for funder and liaising with TESS caseworkers
• Ordering, preparing, administering, scoring, and analyzing a battery of inventories/tests in conjunction with facilitator (mandatory for Employment Essentials; optional for Let’s Connect)
• Ensuring all required reporting is completed
• Monitoring attendance/addressing issues and concerns with participants
• Making appropriate referrals to other agencies or interventions
• Developing and administering a pre/post-completion questionnaire
• Preparing program evaluation report at the end of 12-week period

This position supervises:
• Facilitator and Social Worker

Requirements/Qualifications:
(Note: for internal candidates a combination of related experience acquired in-service will be considered equivalent to the requirements/qualifications listed)
• Experience in program coordination, assessment, and workshop development
• Education and experience in adult education, employment counselling and/or educational counselling
• Experience instructing and/or counselling adults who are facing multiple barriers to employment (one of which is literacy)
• Experience developing successful return-to-work action plans that reflect the needs and goals of adults with multiple barriers to employment
• Knowledge of community resources
• Experience working in a community-based setting
