A change for the better
Waiting in line to apply for social assistance, Alison noticed a flyer for Elevate: Job Training in the Food Manufacturing Sector. “My EI had just run out and I knew I needed to make a change,” she says. “I told my case worker I had to take the course.”
With support from PTP and her trainer, Alison excelled – in both the program and the two-week paid work placement that followed. It wasn’t long before her short-term goal to find just any job grew in lockstep with her confidence: “I want to find my dream job.” Thanks in part to the strong relationships we’ve built with employers across the city, Alison is well on her way, with a long-term role and her eye on a promotion – and a well-deserved raise. What did she love most about her PTP experience? “PTP put me back in ‘workforce mode.’ Times change when you’re out of school for a long time and competition is fierce. But PTP can work for you.”
