Building capacity and community
From their home in a starkly beautiful part of northern Manitoba, the people of Tataskweyak Cree Nation (TCN) have always looked for ways to help their young people excel in the workforce.
That’s why a partnership with PTP through our Pathway to Work pilot project made so much sense. Fourteen participants between the ages of 19 and 29 spent eight weeks working with our team to build job-ready skills and a brighter future. Everyone completed the program – and ten participants even went on to successful work placements. Part of PTP’s efforts to broaden our impact and make sustainable employment possible for everyone, Pathway to Work was lauded by our TCN partners as a powerful springboard: “The hope is that the participants will further their education through training or post-secondary education and take on leadership roles in the community. They are role models for other young people.”
