PTP offers free online workshops to support you in your job search. The choices change every month. Below are descriptions of all the workshops.
Benefits of being a mature worker
In this workshop, we determine who is classified as a mature worker and learn how they impact the labour market. Also, we address the concerns that mature workers have about entering or re-entering the workforce. Additionally, we illustrate the benefits of being a mature worker and offer the tools they can use to sell their strengths in today’s challenging workforce.
Better Jobs Ontario

Dealing with Change and Unemployment
By exploring different responses to sudden life changes, learn to reduce anxiety when faced with job loss, illness, or failure. Through activities like “assessing your hot spots” and “the roller coaster process”, learn strategies to deal with changes and negative emotions.
Handling Conflict and “I” Statements
Have you ever experienced conflict in the workplace? Was it resolved? In this workshop, we discuss ways to handle workplace conflict and learn and practice the Assertive Communication Technique.

Networking and The Hidden Job Market
Learn about different ways to look for jobs, including the purpose of networking in connecting with the hidden job market. Learn how to “sell” yourself to employers. You’ll discuss, role model, prepare cold call “scripts” and an introductory statement to prepare yourself for making contact. Discover how to create a job leads list from various cultural and ethnic business directories.
Procrastination and SMART Goals
Do you tend to put things off? Is this having an impact on your job search activities? Develop some strategies to challenge and beat procrastination, discover factors that help and hinder goals attainment, and learn about the SMART principle for goal setting during this workshop.

Social Media for Job Search
This workshop explores the impact your social media thumbprint has on your job search and how to review and refresh your social media profiles to assist you with presenting your profile in a professional, positive manner. The workshop also goes into detail on how to set up your Facebook profile for job search as well as how to use Messenger to apply for local jobs of interest.
Your Rights in the Workplace
Understand your rights at work through the Employment Standard Act. Learn about the law and your hours of work, the minimum wage, vacation and public holidays, leaves, termination, and health and safety in the workplace.
