PTP is a not-for-profit, community-based organization in Toronto. We are currently recruiting Volunteer Board Members.

About Us

At PTP we help people learn, find new opportunities and build futures. The relationship between low literacy, unemployment, underemployment, and poverty underlies the complex barriers our participants face. We deliver a range of innovative programs and services to address these barriers and so encourage all participants to realize their potential as both learners and engaged members of their communities.

Join our Board of Directors

We are looking for people who are passionate about PTP’s social purpose and keen to give time in working to support a broader sustainability and growth agenda.

Expertise

Knowledge, skills or experience in any of the following areas would be most welcome:

  • Finance
  • Human Resources
  • Not for Profit Board Governance
  • Legal
  • Business Development

Commitment and Expectations

We are looking for individuals who will contribute to an active Board of Directors and work with PTP management and staff in fulfilling the mandate of the organization. Volunteers will be asked to:

  • make a two-year commitment to serving on the Board;
  • participate in bi-monthly Board meetings;
  • sit on a committee of the Board; and,
  • carry out occasional special tasks such as conducting research, drafting policy, doing presentations and writing reports.

At this time, PTP is looking to recruit 4 to 5 new members. A minimum time commitment of three hours per month is asked of Board volunteers.

Steps in Application Process

  • Interested people will be invited to attend an in-person information session in September/October to learn more about PTP and volunteer Board member roles and responsibilities
  • After this session, if still interested in joining the Board, we will ask each person to complete a short application form for the Board Nomination Committee to review
  • A call with a current Board member will be extended
  • The committee will select candidates and invite them to join the Board
  • If accepted, candidates will be invited to PTP’s AGM early November for formal appointment
