Free WHMIS classes and training for newcomers

The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) gives health and safety information on hazardous products in the workplace. If you are a newcomer to Canada and need to study for your WHMIS certificate, we can help.

You will learn:

Important words and terms used in WHMIS
The meaning of WHMIS symbols
How to understand and use Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
How to talk about WHMIS in a job interview
An overview of the Human Rights Code for Workers in Ontario

Time, cost and location

Free classes funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
Runs for three days
On Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
March 30, April 1, and April 2, 2026
From 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Delivered online

Eligibility

This program is open to newcomers. This includes:

Permanent Residents
Convention Refugees
Protected Persons
Live-In Caregivers
Palestinians from Gaza (MOME2023)
